Every WiFi transmission travels through a space along many paths, bouncing off walls, furniture, and people before reaching its destination. When something moves, those reflections change.
At the core of WiFi Sensing is channel state information (CSI), detailed measurements of how each WiFi signal behaves across antennas and frequencies. Origin’s software captures and interprets this CSI data directly from the router and connected devices, creating sensing links that act like invisible motion detectors throughout the home.
These sensing links are continuously monitored to identify variations that correspond to movement. Through advanced signal processing, the system can tell when something moves, while ignoring environmental noise such as fans or appliances.

Occupancy
- Combines motion from multiple sensing links to determine whether the home is occupied or unoccupied.
- A configurable hold time ensures stable behavior, preventing lights or HVAC systems from toggling during short pauses or while residents sleep.
- Different parameters can be applied for day and night operation to match natural household rhythms.
